There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Line segament XY represents a street being repaired. So, from X to Y, a person must go south 3 miles, then west 8 miles, then south. From X to Y, the bypass is how much more than the direct way?
1). Directly from X to Y, the speed of 30mph, it needs 20 minutes.
2). All the southbound way is 4miles less than the direct way.

I thought it should be D. I agree that ST2 alone is sufficient.
But ST 1 is sufficient too....
If the speed and time is given, we can know the distance of XY. If x is the 2nd southbound direction, using pythagoras therom, XY^XY = 8^2 +
(X+3)^2.
We can therefore solve for x. Thus we can know the diffence in bypass and direct. Anybody agree???
