What's people's take on pass/fail vs. a normal grading scale? Does it make a big difference in culture or competitiveness?

Yale SOM also has a pass/fail system.

My feeling is that the grading system itself will not have as big an effect on student competitiveness as a grade non-disclosure policy might. Of course if the grading system is a simple pass/fail system, as opposed to a tier system like the one at Tuck, then there should be zero competition. Do any schools actually have a simple pass or fail system though?

I'd be more concerned with schools that have grade disclosure vs. non-grade disclosure. GSB, Booth, Wharton, and CBS to my knowledge have GND, which has had a big impact on CBS from my experience.

what's wrong with GND?

and I think having a grading system like pass/fail is kind of like GND since they don't calculate GPA under pass/fail system.
