I don’t know what personal funding is but basically you want to demonstrate how you will be paying for your school and living expenses. I don’t know what else you can show :-) I’m not sure what you’re expecting here… how else can you prove the funding? Bring 200,000 with you to the interview? You will probably pass 😂

I brought my loan approval letter with me to the interview and they think I submitted it along with the visa paperwork. The officer asked me how I was planning to repay my loan. I told him that I would have one year after graduating to work in the US and I was planning to save as much money as I could to pay it back. Ultimately, the immigration officers realize that the NBA application process especially for the top business schools is pretty tricky and requires quite a bit of commitment and effort and you’re likely not going through that just to sneak into the country and then work as a dishwasher at a Burger King. It also helps if the school has a strong brand and well-known. My interviewer knew my MBA program and wished me good luck there Which gave me a big smile because otherwise the tone was very stern and he interrupted my answers a few times indicating that he was not interested in hearing what else I had to say and was moving onto the next question. My guess is he got what he needed so don’t get offended if you get interrupted and cut off. They have a little time and a lot of people to process. They’re there to do their job not to listen to your life story and revel in your success. But the tone of his last comment was almost a tiny bit jealous and friendlier and threw me off 😂

PS. Some people are borrowing money from parents and so they will need to have a statement of their bank account showing the balance as well as potentially when the money entered the account and from where to provide extra information. It may not even hurt to have a letter signed by your parents or family if they’re offering you funding.
