Hey guys,


Am planning to apply for LBS 2012 intake....

Preparing for the GMAT...

Just finished my B.Tech (Information Technology) from College of Engineering, Guindy. ( Chennai, India )
CGPA= 7.9/10

In college initiated an association and has been the president of it and hosted an international technical fest.
Did a business internship in corporate governance.
Co founder of an IT company.
One of the directors of Finance and Investments firm (Family owned ) and am heading the Technical division of it and also Venture Capitalist Division for Start ups.

Giving a hard take on GMAT.... Hopefully we all make it... :)

Hey,

Am from India. Should i take the English Language test.
I did my schooling as well as college in english medium.

When i read the site, it gave me an idea that i need not take up the test. But the n please clarify me on this.

Hey guys
Jai here.From Kolkata, India.Planning to apply for LBS MiM 2012 intake.

Completed my B.tech (Biotech) from HIT-K in July 2011. DGPA of around 8.3.
Decent Extra cirriculars in School.Currently working with the family business (Pharmaceuticals)
Planning to take Gmat in 1st week Nov.
Also there are other schools in Europe which offer a similar degree.You guys should take a look.!

But LBS i think is 1st choice!

Hello,

I have a first class degree in Business and Management from Top-20 UK Universities. Also during my studies I prepared a Business plan, pitched it to Angel Investors, obtained funding, turned a profit, kept records, payed taxes and currently in the process of selling the company. GMAT to be given next month, but I am optimistic to get 700+.

My main interest lies in entrepreneurship and after my masters I want to join a start up company whose idea I believe in.

Do you think MIM will serve well for students interested in entrepreneurship? Is it easy to get in touch with good start up companies after the course?

Also will my entrepreneurship experience be treated as an extracurricular activity by the admission team?

With my profile will I be able to make a competitive application?

Hey guys! I´m a swede from Lund University who is aiming for a Master of management in LBS. I have so far received the highest grade in all subjects. I will take and plan the GMAT now hoping for a high 600! Hoping to share insights and help about admission!

I am a bit skeptical about this programme.Duke is no doubt a very good business school.But this MMS programme is extremely new.So the information available about it on the net is very limited.Especially when it comes to placements and packages.

Please tell us if you have found encouraging information about the programme.

Hi guys,

I am going to apply to LBS MiM as well. But I am not sure that my qualifications are met with LBS MiM's. Can you check it out?

Studying Economics (At a well-known university in Turkey and all the courses taught in English)
Going to finish 1 semester earlier(currently senior student)
GPA: 3,17 (ECON GPA: 3,24)
IELTS: 7,5
GMAT: Going to take it on 18th of October
Internships: 2 internships in the two best banks in Turkey, and they are very competitive I got chosen from hundreds of people and they only take 1 person and I got salary each month during my internships
EC Activities: I am a professional sailor and have many awards in races, also in the board of the sailing club of my university and I race frequently(every week)

Also my university gave me a scholarship on account of my academic success
I am in the dean's list for 4 semesters
My first year GPA is 2,8 but in the second and third years I had more than 3,3 in every semester
I have extracurricular activity awards from my university
I am a volunteer educator in some elementary schools and I gave math and English lessons to them
I am expert in excel and VBA
Fluent in English and intermediate in German

So what do you think? Is my GPA very low for LBS? If I get more than 670 in GMAT would it compensate the GPA score?

Jigjagjai just a piece of advice. They really seem to value students who are well-rounded and have an international mind-set so really emphasize that in your application and interview. They also want you to be honest, so in the interview don't hesitate about sharing experiences of any challenges you've ever had and how you've overcome them. It looks a lot better overconfidence - shows that ur not perfect but also that you can learn from your experiences. Other than that they seem to really value extracurricular and work experiences. They want to know that you're involved outside your academic life.

These are just a couple of questions they asked in my interview:
- What kind of leader are you?
- Who is a person in the business world who you admire, and why?
- Tell me of your proudest achievement? How did you measure the success of this achievement?
- If you were "King" of the business world and could do anything you wanted to change the business world, what would you do and why?
- Tell me of a situation where you had to resolve conflict in a team situation
- Tell me of a situation where you faced culture shock, and how you handled it
- If you had a colleague at work who is in a team with you but doesn't work or behave appropriately, what would you do?
- What do you do when you're not studying or managing your student society?
- Why do you want to go into consulting? (I stated in my application that I want to work in consulting)
- Do you have an alternate career plan if your original plans don't work?

I would just say be yourself, go over a few potential interview questions, your CV, and your cover letter so that you have answers ready, and be confident. They often look at points from your CV/Cover letter and then expand on that in the interview. Personally I thought my interview didn't go too well but ended up getting an offer anyhow.
