GMAT is just a 'filter' process thats all. Once you have a high enough score which 750 clearly is, essays are far more important in gaining an admission. For JD/MBA you will need a very good breakdown of quant and verbals (which you have). I presume you need to take the LSAT as well ?
47 quant is somewhere in the 80th percentile I believe, which is good enough for most MBA programs. However you are right in presuming that they look more carefully at your quant scores if your background is non quantitative.
Have a look in the b-school and mba-application forums for more school specific information.
Good luck.

Hi all,
Ironically I discovered this site after taking the GMAT, but I’ve read through some of the detailed advice offered here and thought I might posit a question. By way of background I’m a law student looking to do pursue a JD/MBA and as such I'm limited to my current university for b-school (and its admissions stats are amongst the most competitive). I know little at this point about how the GMAT is perceived by adcoms at top programs and was looking for a bit of info.
I have what I hope is decently relevant business experience (I started my own brick and mortar business which is still operating) but my academic background has been liberal arts heavy. I took the GMAT a while back and scored a 750 with a Q47 V47 breakdown. I was wondering how such a quant score will be perceived by adcoms. I simply have no idea what constitutes an acceptable quant score at top programs (especially given my liberal arts background) and all the numbers I can find only quote total scores. Anyone have any contributions on how such numbers stack up in my situation. Thanks for the help.
