Hi everyone,
I've been studying for the GMAT for about a year now, and have taken the test twice before. My first attempt at the GMAT was extremely weak, as I did not fully comprehend what would be expected of me on the exam. I scored somewhere in the low 400 range, and decided to immediately take action to improve my quantitative and english skills. On my second attempt at the GMAT, I am pleased to report that I performed better (somewhere around 540), but clearly, I would still like to improve on this score.
To improve my score, I purchased an annual subscription of
Magoosh GMAT, which was a fantastic resource to learn the basics (I learned more about mathematics from Mike McGarry than any of my old teachers). I coupled my
Magoosh subscription with a newer version of the GMAT official guide, which also provided valuable insight on a host of different problems. Using these two resources, I have been able to raise my practice GMAT score to 600 (Verbal 34 and Quant 39).
At this point, does anyone have any insight as to what resources I should use next to continue my progress? I plan on taking the online GMAT soon, and I am hoping that my 600 score will hold up, though I understand that the quantitative questions on the actual exam tend to be more difficult than practice exams. I am now faced with the problem of working through problems in the official guide with ease, but then struggling on more official test questions that come up in actual practice simulations. I really am not sure where to go from here, as I want to be sure that I study information that will be the most useful to me right now.
As a follow up question, where would you recommend that I set my goal for my official GMAT score? As I mentioned, I would really like to be somewhere in the upper 600 range, though I am not entirely sure that 700 is attainable. Let me know if you have any advice!
Cheers.
