Hi,
I graduated from Boston College last year with a 3.6 in Biology and spent the last year (8 months) working in a hospital. While working I realized that I don't want to become a doctor so decided to quit and reassess my options. I am planning on taking the rest of this year to travel and explore the world a bit because I have the time. I took the GMAT and got a 710. 41 verbal 46 quant. I know that I can do better on the math, I ran out of time because I got stuck on a few which was just a mistake on my part and generally doesn't happen when I do practice tests. I guess I'm just looking for some advice on what to do next. I know I can score higher, but does it matter? And do I have a shot at getting into any of the top schools? I was big into leadership activities in college and would be able to get some great recommendations.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Best,
Alex
Hey Alex,
Good to hear from you dude.
So first of all, a GMAT of 710 is great! There are better scores, yeah, and if you feel like you have some extra potential in you, you might as well try and retake. But actually the question really is about your work experience. With only six months of experience very few top schools will be interested.
So let me take a step back first and ask you: What do you want to do? (or what are the many things you think you want to try

)??? If you had to work for two years before applying what could/would you do?
If I understand where you are trying to go, I may be able to better advise you,
Best,
Jon
