I just took my first full-length GMAT practice exam (used the first GMAT Prep exam) and scored a 710 (49Q 38V). I'm pretty pleased with this score as I haven't really done any studying other than taking the OG self-assessment exam at the beginning of the book. I plan on buying and going through the
MGMAT material and also the additional GMAT Prep questions banks and exams. My questions are:
- What's the best flashcard set? I say the GMAT Club set and liked some of those cards.
- I've heard the Kaplan 800 book isn't all that great. Is there any material out there that is similar but of a higher quality?
- What are some good materials to learn more math shortcuts and tricks?
- Any other materials that are at a higher level?
In terms of schedule, I won't be getting the
MGMAT books for about a month or so (combination of vacation and travel) but have the OG on my iPad. I was planning on just working through five problems or so from each section a day between no and mid June. Once I get the
MGMAT material, I will spend around 3 hrs a day during the week and 4 hrs or so on the weekend studying. I don't have a test date scheduled yet so I can make sure I give myself adequate time.
My last question to the experts is: what should I be doing to get myself to an 800? I understand that may be a long-shot, but I figure if I shoot for an 800 and fall short I'll still have a great score. I don't mind putting in long hours studying - I'm very disciplined when it comes to studying and exam prep.
Thanks and look forward to the responses!
