Looking for Fall2020 Gies iMBA people

Question

Before I make my decision, can I ask what pros and cons you all may have identified? Do you know where students in program may be posting comments?

I’m in the Fall Cohort and started early with one class this summer. I’m pretty happy so far. The class I took was interesting and engaging. Plus, the networking tools the university provides makes it easy to get to know your classmates. It’s a really good community and I have no regrets.

Same here, Fall 2020 Cohort and couldnt be happier. They truly have embraced the online delivery. From the application to onboarding, everything has been seamless. Their communication/ response time has been amazing and have guided every step of the way. Faculty seems to be very engaging as well and they really are on the leading edge of technology for online delivery. I am so content I chose UIUC.

Hey all, I'm finalising my application for submission by the end of this week for the first deadline of August 15. Polishing both main and optional essays. Also have 1 supervisor recommendation letter left to chase up before I submit the application.

Update 1 12/8/2020: I finally received all 3 recommendation letters today and finished polishing up the 2 essays. I've submitted my application 3 days before the first deadline. Fingers crossed! ?

Update 2 13/8/2020: I received an email after 1 day! "The admissions committee has completed an initial review of your application and would like to invite you to schedule an online video interview with a member of our team for our first-ever October cohort" Interview is set for next week. Fingers crossed again! ?

Update 3: 19/8/2020: I had the 20 minute interview on Zoom and was told I would hear back on the decision soon. Interview was very cordial and as many others mentioned in the "Interview Debriefs" section the questions are all about understanding why MBA now, why Illinois, expectations and really about articulating how the MBA will advance your career objectives.

Update 4: 21/8/2020: I received the acceptance email titled "You're an Illini!" from Associate Dean Brooke Elliott today, 2 days after the interview. Absolutely thrilled and excited to get started in the first ever October cohort!.

I hope this record of my application process is useful for those of you considering joining the iMBA program from this amazing university.

Looking forward to meeting some of you from the forum who are in the program as well!

Here is my schedule so far.

8/28 - I submitted my application of Cohort Spring 2021.
8/28 - Received notification that I need to have TOEFL/IELTS score
8/28 - Replied to school that I obtain a bachelor degree and asked if can be exempted from the requirement.
8/31 - School replied.......... "Based on the information you provided you may qualify for a waiver. We will continue reviewing your application and if you interview with the program we will qualify your waiver then.
8/31: Received interview invitation. Woohoo, I scheduled 9/2 night time for the interview.
9/2: Webcam interview. Questions are below:
- What do you expect to get from the program?
- What can you bring to the program?
- What do you think will be difficult to you in regards to the program?
- Why you want to apply to this program?
- Share your teamwork experience.
After the interview, the interviewer said the expected date to announce the result is this Thursday or next.
