Hello, I am planning to apply for B Schools 2023 Fall enrolment. One of the 2 people whom I was planning to ask for a recommendation got retired the last year 2021 I want a recommendation from him as I worked under him for 3 years however, he said he doubts that he can give it an official company letterhead as he got retired. Can someone help me with this as I am planning with GMAT Waiver and I know LOR in my case will be given more weightage?

Thanks for writing in.
A recommendation on a letterhead may not be needed; however, schools do require that you submit a recommendation from an official email id. In case you are very keen on getting a recommendation from someone who has retired, you may want to check with the Ad Com of the concerned schools first. This will give you an idea regarding whether they will be open to receiving a recommendation from a Gmail account.

I agree with the previous post. You should inquire with the AdCom of each school as to what is the most appropriate way for this recommender to submit their letter. A corporate email address is the norm, but there are absolutely ways to go around this for situations such as your own.
I doubt you will have any real issues having this person ultimately submit a letter, but make sure you do this earlier rather than later. Recommenders are not always the most reliable as they are doing you a favor and sometimes don't prioritize letters, or at least don't finish them until the last second!
