I'm a SWE who recently graduated college and have been working at a FAANG for a few months. The culture is highly toxic, and it's incredibly draining on both my mental and physical health. If I lose my job or get laid off, it will likely take me a few months to do interview rounds and get another similar tier job. I'm aiming for T10 MBA's as I want to transition into a PM role. But I've heard that employment gaps would raise questions for an MBA, which is why losing having an employment gap concerns me so much. But with how toxic my job is, it takes a heavy toll on me health wise.
How bad would a gap of a few months (3-5) look on my resume for T10 after FAANG, while I look for another similar job? Or if my goal is to get an MBA at T10, should I just take any other SWE job so I can avoid having a gap on my resume? f I ended up getting another job at a "lower tier" company, would that also look bad? How would I explain the gap if anyone asked?
