gastoneMIT:
I am sorry to be the most blunt of the group but I do not think there is much you can do. Any effort to reach out (call or email) is going to look like you are making an excuse. Unless there was something truly extenuating about the exam itself (e.g., you were sick, the power went out in the middle, etc.), the school is not going to really take into consideration your reasoning. Not that you can hide the exam, but you are also drawing attention to it in this way.
At this point, as painful as it may be, I would just wait for the results. If you are really feeling super motivated, you could take the exam again and, by some chance, you are put on a waitlist, you will have a hopefully better score you can submit. If you don't get on a waitlist, you could use this new score if you end up needing to reapply. Otherwise, this is out of your hands.
Good luck,
