I like the solution - it’s helpful. Idk if its right but I found the answer (which I got wrong first) like this :
Profit :
x - Jim
x + 24 - Jules
Investment
y - Jim
y + a - Jules
Profit $24 corresponds to increased investment of "$a" made by Jules
So .12 * a = 24 (Interest * Investment = Profit) ~ Sufficient
Second one is a repetition of the first with a minor change in detail as profit = 20% and profit $40
