Official Solution:If each of a cube's edges grows by 20%, what will be the percentage increase in the surface area of the cube? A. 25%
B. 33%
C. 44%
D. 56%
E. 73%
Let \(a\) represent the length of the edge of the original cube. The surface area of the original cube is given by \(6a^2\). The surface area of the new cube will be \(6 *(1.2a)^2 = 1.44*a^2\). Consequently, the surface area will increase by 44%.
