Of those who attended a special GMAT prep class, 30% scored 700 or higher on the test. Of the remaining 42 students who scored below 700, 12 were first-time test takers. If everyone who scored 700 or more was taking the GMAT for the first time, what percentage of the prep class attendees had previously taken the GMAT?
A. 32

Given that 30% of the students scored 700 or higher, the remaining 42 students, who scored below 700, represent 70% of the total attendees. Thus, using the equation \(0.7 *\text{total} = 42\), we deduce that the \(\text{total} = 60\) students.
We are also given that, out of these 42 students, 12 took the test for the first time. Therefore, \(42 - 12 = 30\) students had previously taken the test. Given that only these students had taken the test before, \(\frac{30}{60}*100 = 50%\) of the students had taken the test previously.
