A rectangular tank measuring 2 x 3 x 4 meters is filled with water to 30% of its capacity. If all of this water is poured into another rectangular tank measuring 3 x 4 x 5 meters, what percentage of its capacity will the new tank be filled to?

Official Solution:
A rectangular tank measuring 2 x 3 x 4 meters is filled with water to 30% of its capacity. If all of this water is poured into another rectangular tank measuring 3 x 4 x 5 meters, what percentage of its capacity will the new tank be filled to?
A. 9
B. 12
C. 15
D. 18
E. 24
The tank contains \(92*3*40*0.3 = 7.2\) cubic meters of water. Therefore, the new tank will be filled to \(\frac{7.2}{3*4*5} = 0.12\) of its capacity.
Note that this is not a Geometry question. While it uses basic knowledge of lines and figures, it is a Percent Word Problem question. There are 8 questions within GMAT Prep Focus Edition that use similar principles. Here is one example.
