Official Solution:
In a two-round quiz game between Team A and Team B, Team B won the competition by 6 points. What was the final score of the game?
(1) Team A scored 12 more points in Round 2 than in Round 1, while Team B scored 18 more points in Round 2 than in Round 1.
This means Team B outscored Team A by 6 points in Round 2. Since Team B won the game by 6 points, it must be that the teams were tied at the end of Round 1. However, no actual point values are given for Round 1, so the final score cannot be determined. Not sufficient.
(2) The teams were tied at the end of Round 1.
This gives the halftime situation but no information about scoring in Round 2. Not sufficient.
(1)+(2) We were able to derive the information given in (2) from (1) alone, so (2) adds nothing new. And since (1) is not sufficient on its own, the two statements together are also not sufficient. For example, the scoring could have been Team A {10 + 22 = 32} and Team B {10 + 28 = 38}, or Team A {20 + 32 = 52} and Team B {20 + 38 = 58}. Not sufficient.
