If Mary's closing balance in a bank account was $1,400 on January 1, 2025, was the closing balance in the account at least $450 on each day of January 2025?
(1) During January 2025, the highest closing balance in the account was 3 times the lowest closing balance.
We know that on January 1, 2025, the balance was $1,400. Therefore, the highest balance for January must be $1,400 or higher. Even if it were exactly $1,400, the lowest balance would be $1,400/3 ≈ $466, which is still greater than $450. If the highest balance is larger, the lowest balance would also have to be larger. Since the lowest balance must be more than $466, the balance in the account was at least $450 on each day of January 2025. Thus, the answer to the question is YES. Sufficient.
(2) The highest closing balance in the account during January 2025 was $1,500.
This statement is clearly insufficient to answer the question.
