Hi guys,
I was recently admitted to both McCombs for their traditional MPA program and Kenan-Flagler's MAC program. Currently out visiting Austin, and it seems alright so far except for the heat.
On the one hand, if I attend UT Austin, it will be as an OOS student, and I will be able to take part in a PwC tax internship over the summer.
On the other hand, I was born and half-raised in NC, went to UNC for undergrad, and Kenan-Flagler is giving me a $25k fellowship award if I decide to attend - but no PwC internship because the program starts so early.
Many family & friends are encouraging me to attend UT Austin, mostly for the change of environment and for its great ranking/job opps, but from what I know UNC and UT Austin are about the same in job placement. (Though I'm not looking to stay in public accounting forever, so it's not a huge factor anyways).
And as for a geographical location after school, I'd definitely like mid-East, or even around the RDU area - Pittsburgh, Nashville, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, etc.
I am feeling pulled in both directions, and would love to hear what others think!
