Then, time taken by M= 3x
Rate of N= 1/x
Rate of M= 1/3x
Combined Rate = 1/6 hours
1/x +1/3x = 1/6
4/3x = 1/6
3x= 4*6
x= 8 hours
Time taken by Machine N to complete job on its own = x hours = 8 hours
