Speed in downstream= 10+6; Distance = 16*4=64 miles
Speed in upstream= 10-6; Distance = 4*4=16 miles
D from starting point is 64-16=48 IMO E

still water = 10mph
upstream = 16 mph
and down stream = 4mph
so distance up stream = 16*4 ; 64
and distance down stream ; 4*4 ; 16
net distance ; 64-16 ; 48

Malcom travels (10 + 6) x 4 = 16 x 4 = 64 miles downstream and then (10 - 6) x 4 = 4 x 4 = 16 miles back upstream, so he’s 64 - 16 = 48 miles from his starting point.

Answer: E
