Manhattan CATs - Reliable?

Is anybody else puzzled by Manhattan CATs? I scored a 740 (43 Q, 51 V) on my first MGMAT CAT, but I am definitely not happy. Why? Well because I got 20 questions wrong on my quant! And 5 out of the first 10 wrong! And I still got a 43, which is quite surprising. In the real GMAT or GMAT Prep, I am sure that getting this many wrong will get you no more than a 35 on quant.

Also, on verbal, I got 9 or 10 wrong! How is it possible that I get a 51? On the real GMAT or GMATPrep that would get you no higher than a 42-43 probably.

So in conclusion I have 2 issues with Manhattan CATs:

1) The quant is extremely hard, much harder than GMATPrep. I am lucky to even get 17 problems right, I think a lot of them were lucky guesses. I think I honestly knew how to do no more than 13 or 14 of the quant problems. Is it even worthwhile to do something that much harder than the real one? Will it help or would it just be a waste of time?

2) With the extermely generous scoring, is it even close to being an accurate prediction of what you will get in the real test? I need more practice CATs, and I heard good stuff about Manhattan so I bought it. But it's hard to imagine that the scores would be accurate! I have already done GMATPrep several times (scoring 630-670) so I need more pratice elsewhere. Any ideas?

I think its a good practice if not anything else. I do not know about their scoring thing but for a good practice(that too quant being tough these days) this series is also good.

Would say dont go too much into these scores. Getting 5 out of first 10 wrong and still getting such a high score is bit questionable :)

Thanks, I guess it would still be good practice? I will continue to do them then.

Does anyone else out there have positive experience with Manhanttan CATs?

and here an update : Last week I finished the six CATs, and my scores where around 750, with the 3 last V scores 51! Like you, I'm barely able to finish the quant, with half the question wrong. In Q, I think the score is more reliable, which in my case is around 45.[/url]
