Major Shareholder-

GMATprep 'overestimates'? I don't see how this would be possible, considering it is the only practice test that's actually from GMAC. Plus, it doesn't add up that the test has gotten harder in the last 6 years considering the scores from 6 years ago still correlate to the same percentile. Unless you want to make the argument the people taking the test are smarter now than 6 years ago.

Founder-

I would be interested to know what data that link is based upon, because it 'estimates' I am due for a 720, after a 730 6 years ago with much less studying. Also, you can reset the GMATprep tests, you can take each one twice without seeing more than 3-4 of the same question.

I guess my point that I am making here is that it's dubious to take any stock in a practice test score that is not GMAC related because any other organization has a vested financial interest in making you neurotic about your score.

But test day will prove to be the ultimate judge!

Here you go, same link again: https://gmatclub.com/gmat-score-calculator/

P.S. How did you get 4 scores on the GMAT Prep? There are only 2 tests...

that's what i would want to know lol! speaking of which, I know a lot of these supposed prep tests actually do make them harder than what the GMAT actually is because this way they are able to "guarantee" a higher score. So I took one of the GMATprep tests already and was wondering if there were any other tests out there (maybe ones I can purchase) that are closed to what GMAT really is. Thanks.

It's possible if the GMAC uses a different algorithm.

Has anybody taken these tests? I know some on the forum claim they are accurate in terms of predicting score, I gotta completely disagree. I took the GMAT 6 years ago, scored 730. I've been studying for 2 months, and scored scores of 740, 750, 760, 770 on the GMATprep tests in the past few weeks. Today I only scored a 700 on the first Manhattan GMAT CAT test. The math was ridiculous, and the verbal was even worse! Anyone else experience this with these tests?

Two points:
-MGMAT CATs results, normally, are within 30-40 points range of actual gmat. I hope in your case the range will be 50 points & you will get a 750 in real test.
-A single repeat in gmat prep can tamper the results, in my opinion. So try not to mark your scores reliable if you see repeats in gmat prep. But again it depends on your real qualities too, so I hope this condition doesn't apply in your case.

Kindly also go through this thread:

BTW, what is your test date?

No, there is no conspiracy and your opinion does not count until you actually take a GMAT and no, what you got 6 years ago does not count on your performance today.

Founder- How much data is that graph based upon? How many people have entered their Manhattan scores?

FACT- I scored a 730 5.5 years ago
FACT- That was and is still 96th percentile
FACT- I have averaged a 750 on the GMATprep practice tests
FACT- I scored a 700 on the Manhattan test
OPINION- The Manhattan tests underestimate your true score

Let me ask you, why would Manhattan be ANY different than Kaplan, Princeton Review, 800score...all of which have been shown to underestimate your actual score? IE, you take their practice tests, then you take the real thing, and you think your score 'improved'; but in reality the test only got easier. So Manhattan is the only organization that doesn't do this? Doubtful.

Our CAT exams are calibrated to be +-50 points in a worst-case scenario, but it is more common to see a 30-40 point difference. That being said, we're always working on making our algorithm better and our questions more robust. There's always going to be a problem replicating the exact experience that the real GMAT creates because, in addition to having to reproduce the algorithm and exact wording-style of their questions, factors such as stress are less likely to come into play during a practice test than the real thing.

What we recommend doing is to use our practice tests as a tool to help you get used to taking a full-length GMAT and to help figure out your general areas of weakness using the accompanying assessment reports. Then, to get a good gauge of your score, download the GMATPrep tests offered on mba.com: https://www.mba.com/mba/thegmat/downloadfreetestpreparationsoftware/. You get 2 full-length GMAT tests that are extremely close to the real test because they are made by the same company.

Best,

Michael Dinerstein
