It covers probability, combinatorics, as well as a problem combining probability and combinatorics.

Is the Manhattan GMAT book any good ? How does it compare to the others available from Kaplan, Princeton, etc

Thanks.

I just ordered Word Translation last night, but I've gone through the MGMAT books for SC, Geometry, Number Properties and Equalities and they are probably the best books I have for really learning the thought process and testing yourself on tough problems. and I've gone through OG11, OG quant Kaplan guide and Kaplan 800 as well.

Does anybody know whether "Word Translation" book of this series cover probability? The other four quant books (I have two them) do not have anything related.

If not, any recommendations on a really good and advanced "probability for GMAT" kind of book?

Thanks

I used the Manhattan GMAT Word transalations and found it very helpful to understand the concepts. However, the strategies that i learnt for probability, permutaions and combinations didn't hold for questions in GMAT Prep and the GMAT exam. I googled some of the questions I had encountered in GMAT prep and found that people were using simple formulas to knock out questions in Probability, permutation and combinations.

Now -It didn't make sense to go back top the 25 year old 10th grade text books. So I looked around and found a mention of the veritas prep book on the GMAT club website that Veritas Prep's Project GMAT is good for Probability. I didn't buy the book because I plan on taking the Veritas Prep course. I was told by Veritas prep tutor Brian Galvin that the Project GMAT book is a subset of math section in the Full course.

Check it out on AMAZON. It seems to have garnered some good reviews.

Cheers

I would suggest to use something else for Probability, Permutations and combinations.MGMAT books are good for everything else except that.As someone mentioned above, the concepts just do not hold up against the question in GMATPrep.

which book would you recommend?

I have the Veritas Project GMAT book and I love it, but I could always use another book to pore over.

If I remember correctly, it also covers overlapping sets with a strategy using grids. It makes solving overlapping sets a breeze. Of course, don't forget to practice it.
