Hi Keepushinalmosthere,

To start, this 680 is a strong CAT score - assuming that you took it under realistic conditions that mirror what you'll face on the Official GMAT, then you appear to have the necessary critical thinking skills to score at a high level on Test Day. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? And have you taken any of the Official GMAC CATs yet?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hello Empower,

Great, I took the CAT like a real test, except for music, food, and quant/verbal were split into 2 days.

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?

1 solid month of studying. I don't study every day, its more like cram on the weekends. As best as I try and study during the week, it doesn't happen...

2) What materials have you used?

Materials used include McGraw Hill's GMAT - I found this book to have really really easy quant sections. Kaplan's GMAT big purple book. In both of these texsts, I've stuck to just the quants. I don't know why, maybe I thought my verbal was up to par. But I've only done quant problem sets. Haven't even opened the verbal section. That is all I have studied because until now, I have been thinking my Verbal scores are good enough.

3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? And have you taken any of the Official GMAC CATs yet?

I haven't scored any other CATs. This is my first CAT that I remember taking. I did do one of the official GMAC CAT when last month to start my prep. But the score must either have been average/unremarkable or really low because I can't remember it.

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?

Goal score is a 760 or 750 whatever 99% percentile is now. I will get that score. Not only will I get that, but I will exceed it!

5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

Haven't scheduled, but is on my to do list, once I am acing CATs I'll schedule it : P But I am thinking with my prep only on the weekends, probably beginning of April?

6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

This is the question. I've got a good job, live in a great state, make good money, I don't know. I would like to wait 5 years, pretty much as long as my GMAT score will be valid. My MBA will be a tool for me to either change industries, or move up in my current organization.

7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

While I'd like to say top 10 (can I get in???), actually I'm looking for top 50 programs that will pay my way through. I really would like to graduate debt free.
