Hi,

I actually have gone through both pf them. IMO, both have same contents regarding the concepts, but 7th edition is more kind of organised and comprehensive than 5th edition. And there was a flow while reading 7th edition, other than that I didnt feel much difference.

Thanks.

Hey, Thanks for reply!

I'm more worried about losing out on content and questions for 700+ with the 7th edition, as I read on few pages that the 7th edition has been dumbed down a bit with less harder material. This is done to appeal to the larger audience who might not be aiming for 700+ and is happy with high 600s. If this is the case, then I would rather study from the 5th edition.

However, if this is not the case then I would like to stick to the 7th edition. Please let me know what you think about this.

Additionally, I have also received the veritas prep guides 3rd edition from 2013, and many people have spoken highly about it. If you have any review about that or comparison, please post it.
Thank you I really appreciate the help! :)

Hi nik98,

To start, a 600 is a strong initial CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 550 most years).

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores though, so if you're planning to limit your studies to just 2 months, then there might be a limit to how much you can improve. In addition, from what you describe, your immediate study plan is 'book heavy'; unfortunately, many Test Takers who study in that way end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level. Even the best books are limited in what they can teach you; they also can't force you to approach questions in a certain way and their explanations are often one-sided. There's no harm in starting off your studies in that fashion (and you would be fine with either set of those MGMAT books), but you'll likely end up needing to invest in some additional, non-book resources at some point.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your timeline and your goals:

1) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for your 600.
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
