There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
guys last yr i had used the manhattan CATs for practice. Planning to retake my gmat. What do you recommend.. should i repurchase the manhattan tests or go in for kaplan. Any feedback from users of kaplan tests?
Also could you comment on the analytics that each of these provide. Which one do you find more useful? I know manhattan marks each question with its difficulty level such as 700 level, 800 level, etc. becomes easier for review. It also provides avg time spent topic wise.
Kaplan will provide more CAT's, more comprhensive review abilities (aka, time spent on each problem, number of questions right, number of questions in catagory right, and lists all quesions by easy, medium, and hard). But Kaplan will cost you more. But their online CAT's come with some their really solid online self study course. I used Kaplan and I have nothing but good things. Their CAT tests are accruate and representative of the true test.
At the same time though, I supplemented my studies with the 8 Manhattan Guides, and they were very beneficial. The CAT's aren't quite as accurate (little tougher in quant, little easier in verbal) but for the price you really can't beat them! If you purchase atleast one Manhattan GMAT book you get all 6 of the CAT tests.
Try buying 1 book from MGMAT and 1 from Kaplan, you usually get the tests free with it. I got the MGMAT SC guide and Kaplam Premier book which came along with 5 MGMAT Test and 6 Kaplan Tests. Don't know if the offer is still running though. Did this a couple of months back.
