How can we put the cape of good hope___________ parallel to the first three items of the list (which are places).
And in option C it's absurd to say the settlement of estern colonies,...,...,,... and settlment of good hope in the occupation of.......

To answer your query, "The Cape of Good Hope" is the name of a place in South Africa; the "Cape" in its name refers to a particular geographical feature.
