For me it's between A and C.

A establishes the fact that Advertiser are paying more than actual cost but say nothing about hurting business of advertiser

Since we have to mark argument establishes that "the use of these TV recording devices is hurting their business" that is most strongly established argument C.

So i will go with C

Many TV viewers own devices that can be set up to record shows automatically so that viewers can watch them later. Companies that advertise on television complain that the use of these devices hurts their business since the product makes it possible to watch television programs while selectively editing out commercials. Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the companies ’argument that the use of these TV recording devices is hurting their business?

A. The methods for determining audience size, which in turn determines charges for advertising time, count households that are merely recording a program as well as households that are watching it.
B. Television recording device manufacturers who advertise on television would themselves suffer the damage, if any, to advertisers ’interests that is caused by their product.
C. Studies show that TV commercials are by far the most effective form of advertising.
D. The use of these devices increases the popularity of TV watching.
E. Some television commercials are as entertaining or informative as the programs they interrupt.

Choose A.
If they know advertising shows timing, audiences will set up the automatic recorder split this time. A strengthen the conclusion.

Should be A, as it really hits home hard.

I spend to ensure X number people listen to me, but whats the use if I spend the same amount when only X-Y people listen to me??.....I am DOOMED!!!

A very good point to be noted here is the difference between (A) and (C).

Question is : Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the companies ’argument that the use of these TV recording devices is hurting their business?

A. The methods for determining audience size, which in turn determines charges for advertising time, count households that are merely recording a program as well as households that are watching it.

C. Studies show that TV commercials are by far the most effective form of advertising.

As diehard had said earlier option C talks about business .. but (C) says just that the TV Comm. is most effective means of advertising.Does not talk about the revenews or any charges the AD companies are paying. This option is too generic.

But question is how the new tv recording devices gonna affect the TV ads? if this is answered then it supports the companies argument of TV recorders hurting its business. This is answered in (A) that advertising companies are charged for advertising time when people might watch the ADs or just skip them recording their shows.hence this way Ad companies are paying for no result since all the people not watching their ADs.Hence TV recorders hurt their business.ANswer is (A) and not (C)

Whats the OA ??????????? 8-)
