She got 2 less that reqd.90 in each 4 exam (as avg of earlier exams are 88).
Hence,total shortage in Previous 4 exam = 4x2=8.
On her 5th exam, she need 90+8=98 to keep avg 90 on her 5 exams.

\(90*5 - 88*4 = 98\), Answer must be (E)

Solution:

  • Currently:
    • Total marks in 4 exams \(=4\times 88=352\)
  • Desired:
    • Total marks in 5 exams \(=5\times 90=450\)

  • Let the marks on 5th exam be \(x\)
  • Thus, we can say \(352+x=450\)
  • Or \(x=98\)

Hence the right answer is Option E
