Hey Shrija786

The ratio of flour to milk to sugar is 8:12:4 when Mario makes 36 cupcakes.

When Maria wants to make a batch of 9 cupcakes, the ratio is 2:3:1(Flour: Milk: Sugar)

Therefore, Maria would be needing 3 cups of milk(Option B) to make the batch of 9 cupcakes

Hope this helps you!

Since you need $$\frac{1}{4}$$th of the cupcakes, you will need $$\frac{1}{4}$$th of the ingredients.

So 8 cups of flour, 12 cups of milk, and 4 cups of sugar become
$$\frac{8}{4} = 2$$ cups of flour, $$\frac{12}{4} = 3$$ cups of milk, $$\frac{4}{4} = 1$$ cup of sugar. That's the ratio - 2:3:1

Maria uses 8 cups of flour, 12 cups of milk, and 4 cups of sugar to make 36 cupcakes.
Now she wants to make 9 cupcakes which is ¼ of 36. So she would use ¼ of everything, which is 2 cups of flour, 3 cups of milk, 1 cup of sugar.

Given

36 cupcakes that requires 8 cups of flour, 12 cups of milk, and 4 cups of sugar.

For 9 cupcakes
Divide all the above qyantities by 4

So 12/4=3 cups of milk required for 9 cupcakes

Give kudos if it helps
