For 1 person -- \(\frac{x}{y}\) pounds
For z people -- \(\frac{xz}{y}\) pounds
So, leftover = \(x - \frac{xz}{y}\) = x(y - z)/y, (A) IMO!

so for 40 persons =160 lb
Left=400-160=240 lb
