I have been accepted to Duke's MMS program and to Brandeis MA in international economics and finance (FT pre-experience Ms in finance 17th place). I don't which to chose. Brandeis program is 2-years and Duke 10 months. The programs are quite different, but I don't know whether I want to go particularly into finance. However, Duke's program is rather new that is why not sure about it.

If you don't know you want to do finance, why would you study full-time for 2 years to get a degree in it? For that reason alone I would go with Duke. Also, I think a very important factor in pre-experience business Masters degrees (even more so than MBA) is programme length so that you can get back in the real world ASAP.

Thanks for the advice. I am more convinced to go to Duke, but given the fact that I'm from Russia and want to get a chance to find a work at US, I am hesitating whether I'll find one for the short period of only 10 months.

@vatrushka which university did you finally choose? what is your background? I am applying for the same course to Brandeis and was hoping if you could tell me about your qualifications and GMAT score.

i think in terms of financial economics, you should have no problem selecting courses within the department so that you have a more financial track, so i wouldn't worry too much about that just out of curiousity, would you PM me your GRE score?
