I just took the GMAT and scored a 640 (39 v and 39 q). The verbal score is 88% and the quant 58%. I know I'm not great in math, but I didn't think I was this bad. I was scoring more like 44 on both the official and Manhattan practice tests. Anyways, I think I am going to try to hire a math tutor, but in the meantime are there any books that you guys recommend that will help me to improve my math skills? I want to get my quant up to 80% which I think is 46. I think if I do that then I should get a good score. I am shooting for a 700+. I also want to get this test out of the way ASAP so that I can apply to a couple of schools in round one.

Well what materials have you done? From therem aybe we can suggest some additional materials.

I would check out the Princeton Review Math workbook. I think its great because it gives you everything you need to know and does not give you 100 questions, but rather concepts with quizzes and 20 or so practice questions. Some of the questions are quite difficult but the lesson explanations are great for a review of everything expected on the GMAT in Math.
