Hello, have heard a few things about age being a determining factor for admissions. Essentially, that anyone over 30 has a lower chance of being admitted. Now, I understand that the data shows most mba grads in the m7 have an age range of 24-28, but is there a “ding” for being over 30?

really depends on your experience and background - career growth/path, did you get a masters degree... are you only considering M7?

I have received an admit a couple of good schools, but i’m in a bit dilemma what should i choose- mcdonough( no scholarship ) or WashU Olin ( 80K ). So to brief it up I need to spend an extra 80k ( including the Living expense and tuition fees ) to attend Mcdonough. I am a career switcher who is interested to get into Management consulting or strategy consulting and also an International candidate. Any help will be good. Thanks.

Hi! I’ve received admit from Columbia MS Tech Management program. I’m unable to understand what sort of future opportunities can be expected after the program. Also, wondering if I’m making the right decision to go there. Can anyone suggest?

Making a jump to IB is a big move from sw engineer - are you in the finance industry? With limited work experience and pitching move to IB, I would say it is a slim chance. I’d recommend either pitching moving to product or taking more time to gain experience and move into finance before pitching IB

Hi maverick_cs 15 years of WE puts you in the category of EMBA or Mid-Career full-time MBA like Stanford MSx, MIT Sloan Fellows, USC IBEAR or Foster GEMBA.

Sr19 - I would look at the employment reports for both programs and look at placements. Here is an article from 2021 by P&Q with some stats to reference as well -

Hi 99percentile - these programs offer a wide range of career options, almost like a determine your-own path. With the network of Columbia, you will have lots of connections. What drew you to apply to the program? You can also ask the admiss team for more information/data.

Hi , 14 years into IT-Cybersecurity with client facing technical roles including international exposure. Want to pursue Exec MBA to climb up the ladder. What is a broad GMAT score if the target isEMBA from top B-Schools ?

Yes - MFin will provide strong academics and career outcomes that will be either a step toward IB or directly to IB

with 14 years of experience, you can opt for the Executive Assessment, getting above 155. If you decide to go the GMAT route, still aim for 700+

If IB is the direction you want to go, then MSFin will get you there much faster. If you prefer general finance, then MBA is an option.
