Here is a profile from Rachit ...... Hi everyone!
First of all I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to read through and respond to my profile.
I’m planning to apply for the Aug-2021 intake and appreciate your insights for my profile.

Background:
Nationality: Indian, Male, 25 years old
GMAT: 730 (Q50, V38, IR7, AWA5.5)
TOEFL: 114 (R30, L30, S28, W26)

Education:
B.E in Computer Science from BITS Pilani (non IIT - top-5 university in India), GPA: 9.55/10 (Top-5 of my batch of 650+)

Professional Experience:
1. By the time of Joining i.e Aug-2022, I will have 4 years of experience in a US based cloud company (Nutanix).
2. Moved into a new role of Product Management - which contributes to half of my total experience.
3. Technology consulting for IRENA on the side for about 9 months now - on sustainable energy technologies

International Exposure:
1. Worked for Empa (Swiss Lab) - on a 3 month internship with 3 professors. [REMOTE]
2. Travelled to Bay Area (my company HQ) for projects.
3. Handle customer requests and discussions in the EMEA/Americas/India regions. [REMOTE]
4. Have been working for IRENA (international renewable energy agency) - collaborating with researchers, technologists, etc. from over 5 nationalities [REMOTE]

Achievements:
1. One of the few employees to get a quick promotion in 1 year.
2. youngest PM in the entire company of 5000+ people.
3. Undergraduate merit scholar (for all semesters of study).

Co-Curriculars:
1. Started an NGO chapter in Bangalore - formed and led a team of 5 - deals with financial education for the underprivileged (> 1.5 year)
- conducted camps, collaborated with other NGOs to increase our reach to over 1000+ people, 1 case study of helping a group of people
2. Volunteered for another NPO remotely - creating a platform called “sing for needs” - product owner leading a team of 8 to deliver the solution (~ 1 year)
3. Worked as a mentor to a undergraduate startup (~ 1 year)
- helped scale their business to 50+ clients in 6 months (from 10)
- helped the team to get incubated at Atal Incubation Centre

Post MBA goals:
Goal: I would like to work in a general management or a product management role for a tech company like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Tesla, Apple, etc.

Questions:
Is my GMAT score enough to get into Tuck, Johnson, Haas and NYU (with some scholarship)?
Hi Rachit! WOW! You have a strong profile with solid work ex, excellent undergrad CGPA, extra curriculars. Given your engineering background from BIT Pilani with a 9.55 CGPA, 730 is a competitive score for these schools.

Hello everyone,
Who I am?: I’m am a peruvian (34 years old) Industrial Engineer with +7 years of experience in Financial Planning in different industries such as healthcare, plastic recycling and fishery (not working since Nov-24). I’d love sports and have finished two ironmans, an I also love to participate in NGO activities (free math classes, cleaning beaches, support enviromental researches, etc).
Post MBA goals? I aim to shift my carreer towards sustainability roles such as Sustainability Consultant or Sustainable Finance Associate or Coporate sustainability associate.
MBA schools: IESE, HEC, Rotman
I applied to IESE and Rotman this year in R3 (last round to Latam guys) and I was rejected from both, now I am determinated to increase my GMAT score from 575 to 635+ and apply in R1. One thing that worried me is the gap in my career (from nov.24 – now), I would prefer to focus on increase my GMAT and then return to corporate life, what would you recommend me? How can I make my profile stronger to this schools? Would you suggest me other schools?

Excellent GPA! Yes, do try to get that GRE score up.
However, work ex of 2 years is on the lower side - it would be a little challenging to convince the AdCom that you can add enough value in the classroom with candidates having typically 4-5 years of experience. An additional year or two of strong work ex will make your application more competitive.

Hey, thanks for sharing! Getting your GMAT score up is definitely crucial. Continue your GMAT prep, but I strongly recommend also taking up a role aligned with your post-MBA goals. It will be important to address your career gap proactively by demonstrating professional development or skill improvement - this could be through part-time, freelance, internship, volunteer, or project-based work. Anything that shows continued professional engagement and builds relevant experience will help. Make sure your essays clearly connect your background to your sustainability goals.

i am 23, Indian. i am worried because of my undergrad scores, i scored 50% which is equivalent to 2.0 CGPA on a scale of 4, its a bit tricky to describe the scorings as the University (252 colleges)toppers scored around 70-75% which is equivalent to 2.8. i am planning to take the GMAT in 4th week of June and expecting 685-705, what are my chances of getting a decent MBA program, among top 50 MBA programs in US.

Hi Gaurav! It will a little challenging to get into a top 50 U.S. MBA program with this GPA, but not impossible - especially if you can score 705+ on the GMAT. A strong GMAT score will help offset concerns about your academic readiness. You should also use the optional essay to address your undergraduate performance and provide context. Given that you’re 23, your work experience is likely still in the early stages, so focus on building a strong professional profile that shows leadership potential, impact, and growth.

My Question

I don't have any opportunities to showcase my leadership skills at work (Govt. organization, highly hierarchical and bureaucratic). Would experiences from university suffice? Almost 2 years of work ex, target- ISB.
