Hi there,
I would like to, first of all, thank everyone in advance that offers a response.
As someone who is incredibly interested in Healthcare Administration, I have found myself a little disappointed in the available schools that offer a good Masters of Healthcare Administration program. Because of this, I have a few questions regarding pursuing an MBA instead.
1.) Considering that the MHA is basically just a fine tuned version of an MBA, just related to the Healthcare industry, would it be wise for me to instead pursue an MBA to open up some extra options?
2.) I know that MHAs are pursued by students straight from undergrad with no problem. However, I know it is recommended to have practical work experience first for MBAs. Will this complicate applications, or will Admissions Boards take a lack of work experience with a grain of salt if I inform them of my plans to pursue a Healthcare Administration job specifically?
Some schools I am interested in that don’t have a relevant MHA degree but do offer MBAs with a Healthcare focus are: UPenn, UChicago, and Harvard.
In addition, I plan to only take the GRE, as it can be sent to both MHA and MBA programs. Should I look into the GMAT knowing it would require me to study for two separate tests?
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond!
