I am trying to determine the following:
1. Is an MBA worth me getting now?
2. Is the school going to matter for the money?
I am 40 and I am looking at applying to Sloan ($150K), Tepper($120K), Johnson($130K) and McCombs($100K). I currently support a family and hold a management position in technology. I am currently making $160K (only because it is relevant in the earning payoff of the degree) and looking at non full time MBA due to work. I wanted to get opinions on the items above. My goal with the MBA is to achieve CIO or CTO in a fortune 1000 company but I am not sure if the investment is going to pay off at ($130K over 10 yr a 6.8% = $1500/mo). I have 20 years experience in IT with 10 of it in management. If I was able to get into EMBA at Wharton ($180K) would it be worth it? My GMAT is 720 and UGPA is 3.5. My resume , experience etc. should boost my chances as well.
