Hi
sspr:
It is never the ideal round, but it is understood that ~10% of the class is filled during that period so obviously some people do get in. If you come from an unusual background (however you want to define that) you will almost certainly stand a better chance than a candidate coming from a more typical place such as finance/banking or consulting.
Obviously every situation is individual but if you can afford to wait until the fall for the following year, that is much preferred. You are clearly already thinking about an MBA program in which case put your planning towards R1 when there are way more seats and you will have the benefit of time on your side. Plus, as you mentioned, this year has been brutal so you might be better off punting for that reason alone.
If you are weighing R3 (2020-2021) vs. vs R1 (2021-2022), please reach out to us at
Admissionado to chat. We would be happy to assess your background and discuss the likelihood of a R3 acceptance at T10/T20 schools.
