I currently work with the capability network (middle office) for a MBB firm focused on PE work in India .We coordinate with teams globally doing research and picking workstreams on cases.
I have a GRE- 335, GPA- 3.86/4, 3.7 years of work ex (on matriculation )
My short term goal is to come back to my MBB and work with their M&A/PE teams. However long term I have confused between two tangents 1) To grow within my MBB and start a new practice / lead a current practice 2) Entrepreneurship starting with consulting firm in the niche i have identified in my home country (SE Asia)
What makes more sense?
Schools i am applying to include Kellogg, columbia, tuck, duke, darden

Your short-term goal should serve as the bridge between your current position and long-term objectives (and not the other way around). The idea behind the goals essays is to gauge how deeply you have thought about your career aspirations. MBA adcoms at top B Schools like to see your passion and how willing and ready you are to seize transformative opportunities or solve a problem you have seen. Therefore, your answer must showcase your enthusiasm through the career path you choose.
Think along these lines: What excites you in the long term? What substantial impact do you want to have on the world, your community, or an industry? How do you plan to orchestrate these changes? What is the driving force propelling your vision?
And yes, not everyone needs to be a world savior. Your enthusiasm could also encompass a business opportunity you might be interested in in the long term. Consider how personal experiences with these challenges or opportunities have molded your career aspirations. What immediate actions are necessary to manifest your overarching vision?
Your long-term goals should be something that you really look forward to achieving, whatever that may be (and your short-term career plan is a step in that direction).
