Hi Akakibedoidze,

School selection can take a lot of time and consideration. While your GMAT will certainly influence your target school list, there are a number of other factors to consider when building this list.

Given your interest in renewable energy, it will be key to look carefully at the curriculum and program. Think about your post-MBA goals carefully and pay attention to whose offerings are the best fit. For example, is a flexible curriculum important to you? Do you thrive with more hands-on opportunities? Is the ability to study internationally important? All schools vary in the degree to which they meet these needs, so do your research. Not only will this help you determine which programs will be the best fit, but this research will also be critical as you target your application.

Similarly, explore emerging areas of research at each campus. Finding a professor who is working on a project in your area of interest could be a key driver of both your experience on campus and your chances of success during the application process.

Pay attention to culture as well. Do you want a small close-knit campus where everyone lives and studies nearby? Are learning teams important to you? Do you consider the entire city your campus? As you talk to alums and visit schools (virtually), these are just some of the many questions you should ask yourself while narrowing your list.

While Personal MBA Coach works closely with clients to develop their school lists, some initial thoughts that come to mind given your interest in clean energy are Berkeley Haas (take a look at their Energy Institute), Texas McCombs (students can concentrate in CleanTech), and Duke Fuqua (offers an MBA concentration in Energy and Environment).

Do not hesitate to send a note to scott@personalmbacoach.com to further discuss your application strategy!

Best wishes,
Personal MBA Coach

Hello,

I am from Georgia (country) and I'm going to do MBA in US next fall... I am interested in renewable energy related courses, however as my major I want to do MBA. I am really lost in looking for the schools in that perspective. I was looking for best sustainability management business schools, also interested in middle ranked/cost business schools. How can I do my research effectively? And, please if you have any suggestions abt universities let me know... Right now I'm making an application for Fulbright, I have not taken GMAT yet.

Thanks in advance
