Hi everyone, I plan to apply for B-schools in 2019 i.e. will join in 2020. It would be great if I could receive some advice/assessment for my upcoming B-School applications:

Nationality: Indian
Degree: Undergrad in Engineering (B.E. in Computer Science) from BITS Pilani
GPA: 9.56/10 (top-5 of class) also Merit-Scholarship recipient
GMAT: 730 (Q: 50 | V: 36 | IR: 7 | AWA: 6)
TOEFL: (Yet to Take)
Work Experience: 2 Years at the time of application in a cloud technology company (1 promotion already, expecting one more in July-Aug 2019)
Post MBA Career Choice: Technology
Extracurricular: Several activities before and during studies (Including leadership roles managing 30+ people)
Volunteer: Couple of volunteer opportunities
1. founding a new chapter for a NGO and leading it
2. working as a product manager at a open-source organisation

Perspective Schools:
Harvard (MS/MBA)
MIT (LGO)
Kellog (MS/MBA)
Insead
LBS
Said (MS+MBA)
Ross
Tepper
McCombs
Foster
Anderson

It would be great to get some advice on chances at these schools and what should I do to improve my chances.
Thank you very much!

Hello and thanks for your post.
The application process is truly holistic, and committees will look at your stats (GPA and GMAT), work experience, and extracurriculars.

Your GPA is strong, so that is a good start. Your GMAT is also strong, though compared to others in your demographic, it is about the average. If you haven’t already, I suggest taking it up to 3-4 times. You have nothing to lose since schools will only look at your highest score. And even a slight increase can boost your profile.
It is hard to gauge your work experience without knowing your accomplishments and impact you have made there. It is nice to see you have already been promoted. However, the average years of work experience is closer to 5, so if you choose to apply with fewer years, make sure you demonstrate why now is the time. And because of your lighter experience, it’s even more important to show you have made an impact and demonstrated leadership there. Ideally this will be supported by strong recommendation letters as well. It will also be important to explain why you want your MBA, and to also illustrate the skills you already have which are transferable. Be sure your story makes sense, and is realistic and specific.
Regarding extracurriculars, make sure to really emphasize your leadership roles you have taken on. Founding an NGO chapter certainly sounds impressive.
If you continue to strengthen your profile, you do have a chance at some of these schools, but they are extremely competitive, and each school simply does not have the room to admit all the world's qualified applicants. For that reason, I suggest apply to several schools, including reach, target and safety. Hopefully they will see that you have a compelling story and are someone who will add value to the classroom and community.
If you would like to discuss your story or anything else in greater detail, please sign up for a free consultation. It is never too early to get started.
Good luck!
