Hello all,
Currently I am studying for my GMAT exam with hopes of beginning my MBA in August (2016). I am interested in teaching and researching at the college level, and am more or less using the MBA as a stepping stone into a PHD program. My credentials up until now are far from perfect.
Undergrad GPA: 2.8 (higher in major and in last 60 hours)
Work Experience: 1.5 years in various positions.
GMAT: Targeting 550, ideally 600.
Target Schools: (Online programs only, by preference so I can continue working throughout)
University of Colorado- Denver
Mississippi State
Texas A & M- Commerce
University of Tennessee- Chatanooga
University of Tennessee- Martin
LSU- Shreveport
LSU- Monroe
I understand that my background is quite imperfect, however I would like to pursue my PHD in Business Administration- Management focus after completing my MBA. The PHD program doesn't have to be a top program. I will retake the GMAT if I don't acheive a score of at least 600 during or after my MBA. I also intend on getting a high GPA throughout my MBA.

Getting a solid GMAT score would be advisable. With a below average GPA, you want to prove that you are able to handle the rigors of an MBA program. Then strong performance there should help with PhD applications.
