I wanted to see what people thought about my current situation:
Studied non-accounting major in undergrad.
Currently working in merchandising
Post-MBA I actually want to pursue corporate finance/general management programs. I know that for a lot of corporate finance positions (especially FP&A) they want people with deep accounting expertise and/or CPAs.
Based on what I've seen, it doesn't look like MBA programs offer enough accounting in the curriculum to possibly be able to sit for CPA certification.
Would it be better to get my MS in ACCT and then work for a couple of years and then apply for an MBA after?
Or would it be better to pursue an MBA and then if I need a CPA just taking supplemental classes while working full time?
Why not do both together? Kill two birds with one stone.
