Hi there, although there are quite a view questions out there regarding the meaning of the GMAT-score I haven't found an answer to the following:

Does an e.g. 600 point result mean that in theory one should be on a level on which they get 50% of every question with a difficulty of 600 right/wrong.
Of course I'm not talking about a precise score prediction here and not taking into account real test circumstances. It would just be nice to get an approximate feeling.

Hi heintzkopf,

Calculation is rather difficult. The system gives easier question each time you give a wrong answer. There are many factors that affect on final score. Check out the following thread:

Hope it helps!

I am aware of the general concept of CAT. But I am not intending to get a precise estimation of my GMAT score, but rather to find out what the gmat score means with regards to the test takers ability to answer questions at a certain level right. So I'm wondering whether getting 50% of 600 point questions right means that one is far away of reaching those 600 overall or wether this shows one is on a rather good path of landing somewhere around 600.

So perhaps someone can answer this from experience/intuitively?
