Hi ,

I tryin to figure out how to crack DS/PS questions where Median or mean is mentioned for a given set of #s and one is suppose to find the one or the other .

For xample ,i ran into this DS Q

M is odd integer , what is the arthmetic mean of a set with m integers ??
1. integers in set are consecutive # ,multiple of 3
2. Median of set of integers is 33 -

I suppose median here indicates middle # , ie the set will hv exactly the same # of elements after this point .

But how can one reach to sure conclusion the set indeed has Odd # of elements (as in this case apparently) ??

R there any rules around concluding the # of elements in the set based on type of elements(even/odd) and median given ??
help is appreciated

If there are odd number of integers in the set, median has to be middle number

if even then median is average of two middle numbers

I don't understand the confusion

The answer is C for the above question

median = mean if the numbers form an arithmetic progression which they do if they are consecutive multiples of 3
