Hi everyone!

I read recently that schools have systems like Slate that check IP addresses and document metadata for recs, essays, and applications. So if all your documents come from the same IP, or share metadata, etc., the schools will know.

My question is at what point they check this? If you already received admissions, does that mean you're okay other than the background check? Meaning, if they find a problem with metadeta/fraud they would just ding you and not let you move forward?

I'm asking because I logged into my recs account to find out what all of the questions were. I passed interviews and everything.

It is not much of an issue since your recommender likely works for the same company and you would be sharing the same network/IP address and potentially have an identical PC configuration - very common for corporate-issued laptops/hardware.
