Hello I would like your thoughts on my profile for Mfin at the universities bellow. Any additional school recommendations are welcome
Profile :
1.Demographics: Moroccan, Male,21.
2.Undergraduate GPA (BBA at KU Leuven) : 75,89% (ranked 9th out of 114). Currently pursuing a Msc. in corporate finance at KU Leuven.
3.GMAT : 720 (V42,Q48), planning on taking GRE and shooting for 169-170 Quant
4.Work experience : 3 months full time internship as a credit underwriter at the 4th largest trade insurance company in Belgium. I am currently at the same role but only working part time (2 days a week).
5. Extracurricular : Co-founder of my university's debate club.
US universities :
USC,Vanderbilt,YSOM,MIT.
Non US universities :
LSE, LBS, ESSEC, EDHEC, PSL (Dauphine)
I am avoiding countries whose national language I do not speak, therefore Bocconi, ESADE etc... are off the table.
BIG issue with my profile : I messed around a lot during freshman year and only got it together in the following years, my grades are very skewed. Unfortunately I had most of my stats/maths classes were in freshman year so I had B's and C's on those.
Thanks!
Hey ayoubb,
As you mentioned, you want to pursue MFin, and you got 720 on GMAT; that’s a great score and will definitely help your application.
You have a decent GPA, and ranking 9th out of 114th, shows your great academic record, be sure to mention it on your profile.
I also see your initial work experience, which is good because you have done it in the finance field, which ultimately adds value to your profile.
But remember, you will be competing with hundreds of applicants, some with more experience than you, so you will need to explain why you should be in their program and how you can benefit from the same in your essay and SOP.
You are an eligible candidate. Your experience co-founding your university’s debate club showcases your entrepreneur skills, which is great.
Talk about some challenges you overcame in your application. It shows depth and expertise.
I have shortlisted your target schools on the basis of Dream(chances of getting in 40%-50%) and Competitive (chances of getting in 60%-70%)
