Is the
MGMAT quant harder than the official test? I seldom complete the quant section on time in the
MGMAT CATs. Some of the problems take > 2 minutes to solve and I always feel rushed in the end. Also, when I pick the answer there are times when I'm not sure. The problems in OG12 didn't feel as hard and I was able to solve most of them in under 2 minutes. I'm concerned because I've the test in ~2 weeks from now and I've not been able to score past Q48
More importantly, I feel quite demotivated after the quant section and I end up making careless errors on the verbal.
I have done a handful of OG12 problems - last 50-60 in each of the PS and DS sections. Apart from that I have taken 3 MGMATs and 1 GMATPrep.
Given that people believe GMATPrep is the closest you can get to the types of problems you will face in real test, I have realized
*
MGMAT quality is very close to GMATPrep "conceptually", BUT at the same time
MGMAT problems have that additional computation complexity, which I have not seen in GMAT questions from
OG and GMAPTPrep. Point is don't worry about the rush in
MGMAT CATs; as long as you can solve all the problem and don't feel as if you are missing a concept or 2 during the test, you are all set.
* OG12 is much easier than GMATPrep. If you have 100% strike-rate in OG12, I would say try the
MGMAT Advanced Strategy book problems. BB gave a great review for this book, esp for people in 45+ range and want to get better. I have yet to try the book; it's in my backlog to skim next week.
