Hello,
I took
MGMAT free CAT yesterday and I am unable to comprehend how Quant was scored. Please refer to the screenshot attachment.
Could anyone shed light on how did the estimated score drop from 46 to 38 in the last question?
I ran out of time and it was left blank. Should I have just guessed in that question to get a better score?
Also please suggest how to avoid this major score drop on real exam as it is due soon.
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
Jaychoudhary. It may not have been wise to tinker with a mock by a third party when your actual exam is around the corner, but of course, you cannot change the past. The algorithm for the
MGMAT CAT may work differently from the one used by GMAC™, but the biggest reason I discourage people from utilizing resources by third parties is that the material itself may differ enough from real questions that it may not be useful for diagnostic purposes at all, the very purpose for which the CAT has been designed. I do not doubt the knowledge of the
Manhattan Prep team, but
MGMAT Quant has a reputation for being unnecessarily step-heavy and time-consuming. All of that said, it is strange to see such a precipitous drop from a single skipped question. You want advice? Make sure you submit a response,
any response, to all questions. And as much as possible, do not let this experience rock your confidence in your own abilities. If you have taken the six official practice tests, place stock in those numbers instead. The best thing you can probably do with this particular mock is to review the questions, especially those you missed, and see if you can shore up any conceptual or procedural gaps before your exam, especially if some of those areas overlap with what you have observed in your official practice tests.
Good luck with your studies. Thank you for thinking to bring me into the conversation.
